Yes, this is just amazing. I’m not going to rabbit on about twitter like I did in my last post.

Watch how these surgeons are using twitter, then answer one question: How can you use twitter? Would love to hear your answers! Feel free to leave a reply here at my blog or tweet me on Twitter

Here’s a really simple explanation about twitter:

Twitter is flapping up a storm!
February 20th, 2009

Technology never ceases to amaze me. I just love it!

Twitter is opening up new worlds, thoughts and possibilities for me - woo hoo! What an exciting world we live in, and we can all join the party right from our computers and mobile phones.

If you are not yet familiar with it, Twitter is a communications gateway that asks the question: “What are you doing now?” Users can answer and hear their friends’ answers via SMS, instant messenger, or on a webpage. Updates have to be fewer than 140 characters.

Here’s how you can use it:

Answers from people you trust and respect - You can ask people any question, and you will get relevant response. Also, if you want to find a provider, make a purchase you can ask the question and go with recommendations from people whom you already trust.

Find out about new things - if you follow interesting people who have similar interests as you, you are going to find out about some great stuff.

Search Twitter - yes, you can find up to the minute information on any given topic, within 0.2 seconds of people worldwide posting it.

And of course, it’s a great way to stay in touch and find out what people are doing.

Plus you can link it with other media like facebook, your website and blog posts.

For people who like to follow business success stories, here is an article I recently read in the LA times about Twitter creator, Jack Dawsey.

What a wonderful way to connect to the world!

Happy tweeting!

I have a friend whom I mastermind with and work on various business projects with. I noticed that we compared research notes, she was way ahead of the gam and had much more relevant, in depth research.

If you are reading this blog, chances are you are very similar to me in that you want to get the most out of your time, and that you really love to find out the right information - and fast!

I racked my brains as to how she was doing it - was it keywords? search terms… or even a magic trick?

Then I did the sensible thing and just asked her - my mystery was revealed!

Here are a couple of tips that I learned from her, and what I have since discovered:

1. Exact phrasing - if you want to bring up the exact term that you are searching, simply put quotation marks before/after the term. e.g. “productive research”

2. Using similar words - if you want to broaden your search by including synonyms, and exact phrasing isn’t imperative, just use ~ as a prefix. e.g. ~sales training

3. Include terms - when you want to search terms simultaneously e.g. yoga classes + Newcastle. This will give you a more comprehensive search than yoga classes Newcastle.

4. Use a wildcard to match one or more words in a phrase. E.g. joint ventures *products *marketing

Happy researching!

Last night I went to a oneness blessing at my friend Jenni’s home. It is always such a beautiful, peaceful experience, and I find that I am able to meditate on a much deeper level during the process.

The ‘oneness blessing’ is a transmission of energy which serves to quicken the awakening process. (You can find more information about oneness blessings at www.onenessuniversity.org). I would definitely consider it as a tool for Lightspeed Awakening!

If you would like to come along or find out more about the blessings at Jenni’s home please email blessings@shyneworldwide.com

Afterwards, a few of stayed behind, and launched into an extraordinary conversation about what was really happening in our lives emotionally and spiritually. And how powerful that was!

It was so great to know that other people share similar thoughts, feelings and challenges. It brought about a strong sense that – not only are we ‘not alone’ – but how deeply we are all connected; how we are really all one divine energy!

It is amazing that such a simple act of speaking the truth about your true feelings can bring about so much support, joy and inspiration.

Another example of how powerful masterminding can be!

Over the last ten years, we have enjoyed a thriving economy. Salespeople have been hitting their targets, consumer spending has been high - selling goods and services has been relatively easy in the majority of Australian industries. Most sales processes and models have been successful to varying degrees, and the requirement to cultivate superior selling skills has not arisen.

The question is, do your people involved in selling have the skills, confidence and competence to be able to sell in an environment where customers are uncertain about the economy, are tightening their purse strings, and are fast becoming more astute and savvy with their purchasing dollar?

The answer is profoundly simple, and also absolutely essential right now.

In an economic downturn, uncertainty is high and the purchasing purse is tighter. The barriers and walls that potential clients put up are higher; and customers make very carefully considered buying decisions.

Here is the simple two word answer - TRUST and UNDERSTANDING.

Customers will buy from people that understand them and their problem.

People never buy products or services.
They buy solutions to their problems. It is just insanity that people in the market place are trying to push products onto people, and when that approach is taken, it is a guaranteed recipe for going down the drain in a recessed economy.

Additionally, when customers are evaluating how they are going to spend their dollar, they will not give money away to people that they don’t trust. Buyers are more fearful and suspicious in an economic downturn, and companies and people need to earn their trust before they buy.

Once you have earned their trust, customers want to be able to trust that what you have will solve their problem.

When you and your salespeople have the skills, the mindset and the languaging of trust and understanding, you will shine brightly and grow in any economy!

If you would like to know more about recession proof selling, do a search at Lightspeed Mastery under the authors name of Ari Galper. You will find great materials on trust based selling.

It is not green tea - it is white tea! (and you don’t put milk in it to make it white)

The chinese have been drinking it for thousands of years and have been enjoying it’s potent antioxidant effects.

It is now a big hit in Hollywood. It has more antioxidants than green tea, plus it helps you loose weight. And, the best part is (in my opinion anyway) it doesn’t have that bitter tannin taste that green tea has. Instead it has a very subtle, pleasant flavour making it easy to drink.

Also, it helps you with clarity, calming and focus too!

I get the silver needle white tea from the West End markets in Brisbane and brew it up in a pot - you only need a few leaves. Otherwise, you can get it in tea bags from your local organic shop.

Cheers to your health - enjoy!

The Entrepreneurs Blueprint
October 21st, 2008

Review of the audio book summary ‘For Entrepreneurs Only’ by Wilson Farrell.

Another amazing book that I ‘read’ in just one day, whilst I was travelling in the car.

This is fantastic Lightspeed Learning for entrepreneurs, and well worth the 35 minute investment of your time to read or listen to this!

In ‘For Entrepreneurs Only’ Wilson Farrell literally provides an Entrepreneurs Blueprint – covering the mindset and basic strategies. And he is so brutally honest about the pitfalls and glory that it is highly entertaining because every entrepreneur can relate to it and say ‘yes, I know that feeling!’, and have a damn good laugh at themselves.

I especially loved his summary on ‘Testing Your Million Dollar Idea’. As a business development consultant, this is something that I see business owners simply don’t do enough of (and in many cases, don’t do any of), yet can mean the absolute difference between failure and success.

Also, his ideas on recession and salesmanship is absolutely paramount in these current economic times – and actually gives you the great news!

A brilliant read for all entrepreneurs!

Team Hoyt

Whenever you feel that things are insurmountable or too difficult - just watch this! It is a story of incredible love which fuels extraordinary achievement. It shows us how there is an amazing power that is available to all of us when we say ‘Yes’ to our dreams.

Be warned though, you will need the tissues. Even when I show this to groups I am presenting to, the courage, grace and other qualities that I cannot even begin to describe in this movie – bring me to tears.

I hope that it touches your soul too.
